Biofeedback training
Biofeedback is state-of-the-art technology to help you to learn how to control or manage your physiological processes and/or responses. Sensitive instruments record and measure, in real time, your physiological processes and feed them back to you. These processes are: muscle activities, temperature, skin conductance, heart rate, peripheral blood volume, and respiration.
Your first session will consist of a thorough intake of your past and present medical histories, as well as your current complaints and your perception of what's going on with your emotional, mental and physical health. We will also record some of your physiological processes (biofeedback) such as: heart rate, respiration, skin conductance, muscle activity, and peripheral temperature. Additionally, we will record your brain waves under various conditions (EEG evaluation).
This data will allow us to customize a plan of care that addresses your personal needs and goals, as well as your idiosyncratic, psycho-physiological functioning.
We will discuss your short-term and long-term goals to, together, build a powerful and clear vision of what you
want to achieve.
We will also start designing a home exercise program (HEP), which we will modify as you progress toward your goals.
Neurofeedback training
Sensors placed on your scalp and ear lobes transmit brain activity to the computer, which measures and records the frequencies being used to perform a task. The different frequency bands are fed back to you in the form of animated screens, video games, mandalas, and EEG graphs. To achieve brain wave changes, you will play music, video games or animate a screen with your brain waves, and you will reach the desired mental state and performance level.
another king of Neurofeedack training: PASSIVE-INFRA red HEMOENCEPHALOGRAPHY (PIR HEG)
pIR HEG biofeedback is an effective treatment for neuropsychological conditions like migraines, addictions and syndromes where impulse control is deficient.
pIR HEG is the measurement of heat (temperature) of the prefrontal cortex, the area behind the forehead, which is the executive center of the brain (to plan, to organize, attention, impulse control or other executives functions). Higher infrared temperatures indicate more metabolic activity (increase blood levels and blood oxygenation). As the frontal/prefrontal lobe works harder, more oxygenated blood is brought to the region and the skin surface temperature increases, which is what the pIR HEG thermogenic sensors detect.
The more easily brain cells can get their blood supply, the more oxygen and glucose they have available to them, the faster they are able to fire when needed.
You will wear a sensor on your forehead and will be watching a movie in which activation/playing will be directed linked to the functioning of your prefrontal area. You will have to engage this area by feeling relaxed in your body so that the movie keeps playing. Progressively, we will increase the threshold for you to increasingly engage your frontal lobe while remaining relaxed.
